CRESNET TUSOME EARLY YEARS HUB TAKES OFF TO A GOOD START

We are thrilled to share our recent success in enrolling our first batch of eight learners during the August holiday catch up sessions for children struggling in Reading, Mathematics and Science subjects. In our inaugural month of operation at the Tusome Hub in Kisii town, we welcomed five boys and three girls who received tailored learning support designed to meet their individual educational needs in Mathematics, Physics, English, Chemistry, and Environmental Studies.

Our dedicated team of three certified Learner Support Assistants (LSA’s) were instrumental in helping the learners identify their strengths and areas of weakness that required improvement. In our instructional approach, each learner is guided to identify a specific area of weakness of focus and agree on a programme of intervention for a minimum period of enrollment of 10 days. This entails a diagnostic conversation with the learner and parent to assess the academic performance of the child in the last tests or examinations done in school including a look at the class work materials (exercise books) and reports of projects done. The conversation is pivotal in enhancing the learner and parent understanding of the specific learning challenge to be addressed and jointly agree on the required intervention plan.

By the end of the programme, the learners said the programme boosted their confidence and were prepared to demonstrate the knowledge and skills gained during the sessions when they report to school. We are optimistic they will record an improvement in the specific areas they worked on during the holiday sessions. At CRESNET Tusome Hub, we are committed to providing child friendly and quality educational support services in an inclusive environment for all learners. We invite parents to enroll their children with us, including those with disabilities such as hearing impairments. We have taken a deliberate measure to include Kenyan Sign Language and digital skills training in our education services catalogue to support disability inclusion and building of the 21st century skills among all children.

We are grateful to our pioneer parents for the trust they placed in us to guide and support the educational journey of their children. We look forward to continuing to help the learners unlock their potential and make a positive impact in their educational experiences.
